The Protectobots
The Protectobots are an Autobot combiner team introduced during the Transformers Generation 1 era. Unlike many Transformer teams built around military machines or heavy construction equipment, the Protectobots transform into vehicles associated with rescue, emergency response and public safety.
Hot Spot, First Aid, Streetwise, Groove and Blades each have their own distinctive vehicle mode, transformation and personality. When the five Protectobots combine, they form the giant Autobot warrior Defensor.
The variety of their vehicles makes this team especially interesting as a toy collection. A fire engine, ambulance, police car, police motorcycle and helicopter all come together as a single combiner system.

Hot Spot
Hot Spot is the leader of the Protectobots and transforms into a distinctive blue fire engine. Among the five original G1 Protectobot toys, his larger size immediately identifies him as the central figure of the team.
The unusual blue fire-engine body and large white ladder give Hot Spot a particularly memorable appearance. In combined mode, Hot Spot forms the main torso and core structure of Defensor.

Blades
Blades provides the Protectobots with their aerial capability and transforms into a red-and-white rescue helicopter. His bright color scheme gives both the vehicle and robot modes a particularly striking appearance.
Despite being part of a rescue-oriented team, Blades has one of the more aggressive personalities among the Protectobots. As a G1 combiner toy, he can become one of Defensor's interchangeable limbs.

First Aid
First Aid is the medical specialist of the Protectobots and transforms into an ambulance. His white body, red details and emergency styling make his function immediately recognizable.
Compared with the more combat-oriented members of the team, First Aid most directly represents the Protectobots' rescue mission and concern for protecting others.

Streetwise
Streetwise transforms into a police car and serves as the team's pursuit and law-enforcement specialist. His low, streamlined vehicle mode contrasts strongly with the larger emergency vehicles in the team.
His police-car styling and prominent emergency lights give the toy the unmistakable appearance of a classic 1980s patrol vehicle.

Groove
Groove is the smallest and perhaps most unusual member of the original Protectobot team, transforming into a police motorcycle.
Large areas of chrome-plated parts make the original G1 toy especially reflective under light. His compact motorcycle mode gives the Protectobots one of the most varied vehicle lineups among the classic combiner teams.
