Toy Documentary was created from a simple idea: toys deserve to be remembered, documented, and seen in detail. They are more than objects on a shelf — they are pieces of design, technology, popular culture, history, imagination, and childhood.

From the Shelf to the Real World.
For many of us, toys were our first introduction to cars, aircraft, robots, ships, machines and history. A single toy could represent a favorite character, a real vehicle, a childhood memory, or an entire era.
At Toy Documentary, we begin with the physical object itself. Through high-resolution photography, macro lenses and carefully controlled lighting, we document the colors, molding, decals, mechanical details, materials and proportions that make each toy unique.
But the story does not stop with the object. A transforming robot may lead us to the real aircraft that inspired it. A die-cast car can open a window into automotive history. A miniature warship can tell the story of the ship, the battle and the era it came from.
That connection between toy, design, history and reality is at the heart of Toy Documentary.

Many classic toys were produced decades before high-resolution digital photography became common. Original catalogs are aging, online images are often small or incomplete, and some toys are becoming increasingly difficult to find in good condition.
By photographing these pieces in high resolution, Toy Documentary aims to create a useful reference for collectors, researchers, designers and anyone curious about how these objects actually looked.
These images are not created only to be beautiful. They are intended to become part of a lasting visual record.
